Taped phone calls between a convicted criminal and two men planning to murder pop star Justin Bieber have been released providing details of the alleged plot.

The calls between Dana Martin, who is currently serving two life sentences for rape and murder in a Southern New Mexico jail and Tanner Ruane appear to detail a plan to strangle and castrate Bieber and his bodyguard. After mentioning Bieber, Martin refers to the castration of pit bulls, thought to be a reference to the Canadian pop sensation using a pair of hedge clippers purchased for the crime.

The plan to murder Bieber was uncovered before it could be put into action at a concert at New York's Madison Square Garden; prosecutors believe Dana Martin had employed former cell mate Mark Staake and his nephew Ruane to strangle Bieber and his bodyguard before castrating Bieber.

Martin claims he will pay $5,000 to the pair for each one he gets, a statement thought to refer to the castration. Many reports have claimed Martin has become obsessed by Bieber during his time in jail and has even gone so far as to have a tattoo of the star completed on his leg. Staake and Ruane were stopped by Canadian border patrol officials as they were travelling to the Madison Square Garden concert.
