In an attempt to turn around falling ratings American network NBC has decided to add to the judging panel for TV talent show America's Got Talent. After long time judge Sharon Osbourne left the show AGT's producers had already added former Spice Girl Mel B, aka Melanie Brown to the three person judging panel; NBC executives have now added a fourth judge in the shape of former model Heidi Klum to the panel in an attempt to stop viewers turning their backs on the show.

The 2012 season of the talent competition saw shock jock Howard Stern added to the judging lineup with a reported contract of around $20 million; Stern's debut on last season's show saw a fall of around five million viewers from the previous season's debut. Following the lead of other talent competitions, such as singing competitions The Voice and American Idol a four person panel of judges will pass judgement on the contestants. Network bosses at NBC explained Klum's addition to the panel as adding an expert on the global entertainment industry who has previously worked as a model, fashion designer, TV host and actress. Klum and Mel B will join Howard Stern and Howie Mandel as the show's judges.
