British singer Joss Stone told Exeter Crown Court in the U.K. she was unaware of a plot to kill her until she was told of it by police officers visiting her home after two suspects were arrested.
She said: "Apart from someone (police) coming around to say someone is trying to kill me, it was a really nice day."
The singer stated she used few home security measures at her Devon home and would rarely lock her doors like many of her neighbors in the rural area of the U.K.
Speaking about the lack of security at her home, she said: "I've lived in Devon for a long time and nobody really shuts their door."
"I didn't really have a lock on my door ... But I do now."
The two suspects, Kevin Liverpool and Junior Bradshaw were arrested close to the home of 25 year old Stone in possession of knives, a samurai sword and gloves.
The New York Post writes:
Opening the case at Exeter Crown Court Monday, prosecutor Simon Morgan told a jury the pair, 32 and 35, set off from their home in Manchester with a samurai sword, knives, a hammer, black bags and gloves for Stone's house in Devon. The men were allegedly part of a gang that hatched the plot, but other members could not be traced.
A series of notes found in the pair's car refer to the death of Stone through decapitation and show they would attempt to find a river to dump her body in after the murder.
No motive has yet been found for the plot with other members of a gang thought to be involved, but as yet unidentified. Both men deny the charges.
