Justin Bieber's Anne Frank Atrocity
According to Justin Bieber, if Anne Frank had not died tragically in a concentration camp over 70 years before his rise to stardom, he hopes almost self-servingly that she would have been a "belieber".
For the sake of clarity, a "belieber" is a member of Justin Bieber's devoted fan base. The 19 year old pop star paid a visit to the Anne Frank House on Friday (April 12th), and his off color remarks may have gotten him more than he bargained for.
During a tour of the city of Arnheim in the Netherlands, Justin Bieber made a brief sojourn at the Anne Frank House, writing in the museum's guestbook:
"Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber.".
Though his visit to the Anne Frank House went largely unnoticed during his stay in Arnheim, his comments have garnered him much backlash from fans and foes alike. Critics are calling him "a little idiot" and "an uneducated product of the 21st century".
One person commenting on the museum's Facebook page criticized the singer as being "way too full of himself," adding, Frank is "an important historical figure, so show some respect."
Another wrote: "Glad he went, but the last sentence is VERY self-serving. He missed the lessons of Anne totally."
Yet another said, "Way to use Anne Frank for self-promotion."
"I hope he revisits the museum again once he is older and hopefully wiser and truly understand the messages of peacefulness, humility and respect that are wound within those walls." one woman wrote.
Bieber has yet to comment on the incident.
