Romoland, CA - The 58-year-old woman who holds the world record for owning the most shoes has been found dead in her swimming pool.
Darlene Flynn was a fixture in this small community of just under 2,000 people and was reported by Guinness Book of World Records to be in possession of over 7,765 shoes at the time she set the world record. Flynn also owned shoe-related items so that her collection totaled 15,000 items. Police have arrested her male cougar boyfriend in connection with her murder. He is 29-year-old Justin Smith.
She hadn't known Smith for very long as they had met last year at a bar where he swept her off her feet. However, the relationship was rocky and the couple were said to argue frequently.
In fact, officers arrived at Flynn's residence in response to a call of domestic disturbance when they found her body floating in pool and her boyfriend's body hopping the backyard fence as he took to flight. While the law affords everyone a basic presumption of innocence, leaving the scene of a death and ignoring calls by police to halt do not bode well for Smith. There is no word as to who will inherit Flynn's vast shoe collection.
