The 23-year-old singing sensation from Reading, PA, known as Taylor Swift will now be introduced to a wider audience due to her appearance in the 2014 Guinness Book of World Records. Swift's level of success is the envy of any artist, but her star power only seems to increase.
She set two records and they both deal with record sales. Her song "We Are Never Getting Back Together" became the fastest selling digital download. It was released in mid-August 2012 and by November had been downloaded three million times.
Her 2012 CD entitled "Red" sold 1.2 million units in its first week of sales which set a record. By July of this year, the CD had sold 3.7 million units in the United States and 6 million worldwide. Swift is a country singer which broad cross-over appeal. Her songs often get play on pop music and adult contemporary stations in addition to country music stations.
Swift's former flame Harry Styles of the UK boy band "One Direction" also made the Guinness Book of World Records. The group had the highest debut on the US charts by a UK band with their song "Live While We're Young". That tune was viewed on the popular video site "Vevo" 8.24 million times in a 24-hour period.
