2013’s Top earning dead celebrity list
It is very interesting to note how death can bring increased wealth to the estate of the deceased. That has certainly been the case with Elvis Presley, John Lennon, and Michael Jackson. Forbes recently published their annual list of the top earning entertainers and Madonna finished out the year earning $125 million. That would have made her the top earner if it weren't that the late Michael Jackson earned $170 million.
How did Jackson accomplish such a feat? Largely based on the strength that a pair of Cirque du Soleil shows earns which is featured on his music called "Immortal". Cirque du Soleil tours the globe before routinely sold out concerts. The show features a hologram of the late singer performing "Man in the Middle" to round out the show.
Another icon earning big money this past year was the former King of Rock 'n' Roll, Elvis Presley, who earned $55 million for a fabulous income 36 years after he passed away. Charles Schultz of "Peanuts" fame earned his estate $37 million due the everlasting popularity of Charlie Brown and friends. Late reggae singer Bob Marley earned his estate $18 million which is probably may be he ever earned in a single year when he was alive.
Elizabeth Taylor made the list earning $25 million. This Hollywood legend is still earning money from her fragrance White Diamonds, which was released in 1991. Taylor's estate also has rights to some of her films and while she was alive, the actress made many wise stock and real estate investments.
