It is no surprise that 25-year-old British singer Adele wants the starring role in a motion picture about fellow Englishwoman Dusty Springfield. There are obvious similarities between the two women which are physical as side-by-side photographs suggest.

Now, Adele is not the only woman coveting that role. Actress Nicole Kidman has made it clear she would like to play the part as well. However, few women could portray Springfield with a voice as beautiful as that of Adele.

The "Dusty" picture is still in its infant stage. The screenwriter hasn't yet been signed to write the script, but it is believed that David Stenn of "Boardwalk Empire" fame will get the job.

It is confirmed that Adele has been discussing the role with movie producers. Might it be that this role will be the impetus for Adele to shed weight? The singer has lost some of her baby weight which she denies was a result of the torrent of criticism she was getting. At one point, Adele was starting to look very much like Naomi Judd. One thing is certain and that is the late singer Dusty Springfield was a very slender woman up to the time of passing away in 1999.

Adele has previously spoken about her admiration for Springfield, saying the late singer "put English women on the map, which I love". Springfield, who released 14 studio albums between 1964 and 1995, passed away in 1999 following a battle with breast cancer.

Adele is also reportedly set to appear in another movie called”The Secret Service” due out in November 2014.
