[/caption]Although the common saying in NFL circles is, " You can't make the club in a tub," Peyton Manning is obviously the exception. A few weeks ago, Manning was pictured in the Bronco's facility soaking his sprained ankle, reading his tablet, and strangely sporting his Bronco's football helmet all the while. Instantly, the web offered multitudes of comical captions for Peyton's unconventional practice.

While some believed Manning was preventing an off-the-field head injury, the image illustrated why Manning is the leading active and second behind Brett Farve in all-time passing yards, pass completions, and passing touchdowns. In week 14 of the 2013 NFL season, Peyton leads the league in completions, attempts, yards, touchdowns, yards per game, and has the second highest quarterback rating (114.5).

What's Peyton's secret for success? For the answer, you may have to take a second or third look at the picture. Instead of the normal Wednesday practice, Manning was resting his ankle. With little regard for cold tub head trauma, Manning's helmet was transmitting the play calls he was missing, while he followed along with game film on his tablet.

Very rarely are things what they appear, but Manning has always appeared and demonstrated preparedness. Peyton Manning has become the NFL trophy model for uncanny dedication, spectacular preparation, and unstoppable drive. The image alluded to a philosophical truth; most people are unable to comprehend the hard work and dedication required to be the best, even if it were staring them in the face as clear as day.
