This day and age is one where breaches of political correctness can end the career of an entertainer. Radio commentator Don Imus lost his lucrative radio program when he referred to an African-American female college basketball team as being nappy-headed prostitutes. He was able to return to the airwaves following a very sincere public apology and demonstration of contrition before the female basketball team which graciously forgave him.

Last month the popular A&E show "Duck Dynasty" was called into question when the family patriarch Phil Robertson expressed his religious views on homosexuality in an interview for GQ magazine. Robertson was put on indefinite hiatus, but later returned due to public support for him.

However, the situation is very different for Toronto 102.1 FM morning program "The Dean Blundell Show". The producer and co-host for the show served as the foreman for a jury during a homosexual assault trial. The commentary on the show was blatantly homophobic promoting stereotypes about gay sex and promiscuity. Following the comments made in early December, the show was suspended indefinitely.

Now, the radio station has announced that show has been canceled after 13 years. Blundell apologized for his comments and thanked his fans for their years of support on the show.

"With the start of the new year, Corus Radio will be taking 102.1 the Edge in a new direction in 2014," general manager Dave Farough said in the brief statement that promised a more music-based format in the future.

"The Dean Blundell Show has been cancelled, effective January 6, 2014," Farough wrote.

In a tweet Monday, Dean Blundell was unapologetic as he bid his fans farewell.
"Truly love you all," he tweeted in a message with the hashtag #wherestheremote. "The last 13 years been the greatest time of my life. #thankful for all of you."
