Actress Candace Cameron Bure, age 37, has grown up since her days as the plucky adolescent D.J. Tanner on the sitcom "Full House" - a role she performed from age 10 to 18. Now, she is a married and has authored a book entitled, "Balancing It All: My Story of Juggling Priorities and Purpose". She appeared on the set of the internet program "HuffPost Live" and was asked to share her thoughts on marriage.
HuffPost Live host Nancy Redd specifically asked her about comments in her book about her marriage of 17 years to Russian-born former NHL star Val Bure of whom she wrote she is submissive. Candace explained that when she speaks of submission, it is not as a synonym for subservience; it is the Biblical definition which is a spirit of meekness. She added that it is being independent, but bridling or directing that independence.
Needless to say, she enjoys the blessings of a very good marriage. In prior discussions on marriage, she quoted the New Testament passage of 1 Peter 3:1 which counsels wives to submit to their husbands. She explained that she views that as meaning that her husband presides in the home, but does not lord over her.
