Rihanna, the 25-year-old beauty from Barbados, has scored a key victory in her ongoing lawsuit to recoup $8.5 million in damages stemming from her ill-fated purchase of a mansion in Beverly Hills. She originally purchased the money pit five years ago for $6.9 million when it was sold to her through Prudential real estate as her dream home.

However, when it rained, it literally poured - inside the house that is. Numerous leaks caused extensive damage to a high grade sound system she had put into the home. Some of her unique clothing had already been hung in the closets and grew mold from water that leaked on it. She never did get a chance to move in.

In response, she is suing to recoup money lost from the purchase of the home and for damages to personal property. The defendants are the original owner, the real estate broker, and engineers. However, a major discovery was made in depositions where the owner admitted to informing Prudential about the structural defects in the home. Prudential subsequently hid that information from Rihanna. That puts the onus on Prudential and indicates the international singing sensation should expect a favorable settlement offer whether or not the matter goes to trial.
