Google’s Street View Car Involved In Triple Crash

>One of Google’s flagship street cars was involved in a bizarre triple crash in Indonesia.

The crash occurred in the suburban town of Bogor, Indonesia, which is located on the outskirts of Jakarta. Witnesses reported that the official Google Street vehicle skidded into one of the city’s public transport buses. After the crash, the driver of the vehicle allegedly attempted to leave the scene.

“He did accompany the minivan driver to the garage, but he said he was scared the repair fee would be high, so he got in his damaged car and fled,” Bogor district police operations chief Hendra Gunawan told AFP.

However, the driver didn’t get very far away before he suddenly hit yet another city transport bus. He again attempted to flee this second hit and run offense, but was foiled again after he hit a truck several minutes later.

Google confirmed the incident to Gizmodo but didn’t say what it plans to do about it.

“We take incidents like this very seriously,” a spokesperson told Gizmodo’s Ashley Feinberg. “We’re working closely with local authorities to address the situation.”

No official reason was given by authorities in Indonesia as to the cause of the crash, or why the driver’s judgment was so badly impaired. According to witnesses, the driver simply “panicked” after hitting the first bus. However, it is very clear that he only had himself to blame for making matters much worse when he attempted to flee from the scene.

The driver of the Google Street View car has not yet been publicly identified in the media. No word has yet come from Indonesian authorities as to what charges will be filed in this case.
