Singer Rimes Sues Dentist for Negligence

Could faulty dental work be the cause for singer LeAnn Rimes' lackluster musical career? That's what the singer is claiming in a lawsuit filed on Valentine's Day.

Rimes is suing her dentist for shoddy work that she claims has damaged her singing career.

In the suit, Rimes says that chronic pain, inflammed gums and bleeding is the result of badly fitting dental crowns installed over a three-year period by her dentist.

Her condition got so bad last fall that she was forced to cancel some tour dates in order to schedule dental surgery.

Last summer, Rimes went on a long rant about her dental discomfort on Twitter.

"Waiting on the endodontist to meet me and do a nighttime root canal," she wrote in July. "This is one of the craziest things I've ever been through. Trying to keep my mind off the pain & what's about to happen by saying hi to you guys. Life does not work on the right schedule sometimes. This is such bad timing! K, wish me luck. Much love!"

"O-M-G i got 3 shots in the roof of my mouth & 1 INSANE shot directly into the half dead half ALIVE nerve through the hole he drilled on the backside of my tooth," she wrote in the days following.

Rimes told her fans on her official website that 2012 was a "dental nightmare" with teeth problems caused by poor dental work delaying many of her musical projects and causing her to lose income.

"I've been living in a dental nightmare for 10 months. I'm getting back on track though, I hope. I've had too many detours this year due to dental issues," she wrote on her website on Oct. 7.

The singer, who raised eyebrows over an affair with Eddie Cibrian before he became her latest husband, is going ahead with plans to release her latest album, "Spitfire", this spring.
