$1000 Gift not Considered an Act of Kindness

Sergey Vorobyov had a bad year. He lost his job then his wife, but he decided to try and make someone else’s day better during Black Friday weekend. His large act of kindness was appreciated by many, but somehow he managed to end up having to face a judge.

Vorobyov was in the Mall of America and decided to throw $1000 to a crowd of shoppers. He had a stack of one dollar bills that he brought with him specifically for this occasion. While shoppers scrambled and jumped trying to collect everything that they could, the police placed Mr. Vorobyov under arrest for disorderly conduct.

While many shoppers are thankful for the act of kindness, the police have stated that the act caused a ruckus in an already chaotic environment. Unfortunately, during the hectic shopping season, shoppers tend to have higher stress and anxiety levels. The thought was a great one, but the repercussions may not have been completely thought out.

Mr. Vorobyov stated that his year has been terrible, and his goal was to bring joy to other people’s lives. His reasoning was that the karma would be a nice little security deposit towards a better year. The fact that he was arrested and charged for the act just goes to show how bad his year really has been.
