Morrissey refuses to appear with the stars of Duck Dynasty

British singer Morrissey claims he was forced to cancel a planned performance on talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live Tuesday because of the identity of his fellow guests on the show.

A well known animal right campaigner Morrissey, 53 stated through a spokesperson appearing alongside the stars of Duck Dynasty would not sit well with his morals; Duck Dynasty follows the lives of the Robertson family who own a company making and selling duck hunting equipment. After the singer’s request for the Robertson family to be removed from the show was turned down MOrrissey decided not to appear on Tuesday’s installment.

Morrissey has worked alongside animal rights charity PETA to raise awareness of cruelty to animals and recently forced L.A.’s Staples Center to close food vendors serving meat during his performance at the arena.

“Morrissey is thankful for being invited to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live,” his spokesman said today in a statement.
“However, he cannot morally be on a television programme where the cast members of Duck Dynasty will also be guests.

“Morrissey would be honoured to play the show, if Duck Dynasty were removed.”

The former Smiths frontman who wrote the song Meat is Murder described the Robertson’s as animal serial killers; Morrissey’s performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live will be rescheduled for a later date.

The singer added: “As far as my reputation is concerned, I can’t take the risk of being on a show alongside people who, in effect, amount to animal serial killers.

“If Jimmy cannot dump Duck Dynasty then we must step away.”
