Saudi Princesses Claimed to Being Held Hostage

Two daughters of the current King of Saudi Arabia. Princesses Jawaher and Sahar both claim that they are being held by their half brother supposedly at the command of their father, King Abdullah. The Princesses reached out to a newspaper via phone calls and e-mails this past week to ask for help. In their communication they said that they have two other sisters who are also being held against their will on the King’s compound in Jedda, Saudi Arabia.

The princesses say that they are kept against their will under the security of armed guards. They explained some of their day to day frustrations as they are not permitted to leave the King’s compounds unless they are given temporary permission to go shopping for brief periods of time.

The mother to both Jawaher and Sahar, Alanoud Alfayez, has herself reached out to the United Nations for help. The information was passed along to the High Commissioner for Human Rights who may decide to intervene on the behalf of the girls. This isn’t the first case of Human Rights complaints against Saudi Arabian women but this is unique in that those accusations are being held against someone of such a high stature.
