Young Sebastien De La Cruz, age 11, appears to have offended the sensibilities of some NBA fans when he appeared in game three of the NBA Finals. His purpose in being there was to sing the national anthem and he did so in a mariachi suit.
Presumably, it is the latter which offended some people who viewed his ethnic attire as being un-American. Cruz responded to the racist comments in style, saying that he doesn't consider the comments more than the time it takes him to brush them off his shoulder which action he performed his hands before news reporters. His team, the San Antonio Spurs won a decisive victory in that game over the Miami Heat and are not taking anything for granted.
They have invited De La Cruz to return for game four to sing the national anthem once more - perhaps they view him as bringing them good fortune. De La Cruz gained some attention after his appearance on the reality TV show "America's Got Talent". It's not as if De La Cruz's appearance should have surprised anyone. He is a mariachi singer which is precisely why he was wearing that outfit for the national anthem.
