Normally, an update from an O/S version such as 10.2 to 10.2.1 would provide minor bug fixes and tweaks. However, Blackberry's latest update went all out in offering their base excellent reasons to hang onto that smartphone. Here's a list of what the latest version has to offer:

What's New in Blackberry 10.2.1:
• Message Filtering - The Blackberry Hub can now be modified to display only desired message types such as flagged messages, invites to meetings, or unread messages. All it takes is a quick pinch-like motion of the fingers and the changes to the Message Hub can be made.
• Enhanced call ignore - No need to press a button to ignore a call. Users may now swipe to the right or left. User friendly icons also appear to ignore a call while sending the caller a response via text/BBM/e-mail, or silence the call.
• Quickly access message notifications even if the screen is locked.
• Unlocking the phone makes use of a single digit and picture password. The user intending to unlock the phone must drag the picture over a grid to the correct number.

How to update to BlackBerry v10.2.1

When the update becomes available on your carrier, here’s how you can update for free:

To update your BlackBerry smartphone to BlackBerry 10.2.1 software, look for the alert in the notifications section of the BlackBerry Hub. You can also check for software updates through the System Settings menu and selecting Software Updates. The download will happen in the background, so your information remains safe and you can continue to use your smartphone as it downloads. As always, we recommend you make a current backup of your BlackBerry 10 smartphone.

The updates are sure to please their loyal base while the company continues its quest to regain market share against tough Android, iPhone, and Windows Phone competitors.
