MMA Fighter Tito Ortiz Fractures Neck

It looks like Tito Ortiz’s comeback to the MMA has been put on hold indefinitely. The former UFC light heavyweight champion suffered a neck fracture while training for an upcoming fight against Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

According to Fox Sports, this isn’t the first time the 38-year-old has seriously injured his neck. In 2010, Ortiz left the television show “The Ultimate Fighter” where he was coaching up-and-coming MMA fighters in order to have neck surgery. This latest injury could force the fighter into permanent retirement.

Ortiz briefly left the sport in 2012 to undergo extensive knee surgery. The fight with Jackson on November 2nd was supposed to be his long-awaited comeback to the cage. Doctors insisted the fighter stay out of commission for at least six months or risk permanent neck damage or even paralysis.

The MMA fighter took to Twitter on October 25th, stating that he tried everything he could to stay fighting but that his doctors made the decision to take him out of commission. He thanked everyone for their support. However, there seems to be no support coming from UFC president Dana White who took to Twitter himself stating that Ortiz has finally received the Karma he deserves.
