Two newborn sons killed by Vancouver mother

Published

A 28 year old Vancouver woman is charged with murdering two newborn sons because she did not want her parents to find out that she was pregnant. Instead, Sarah Leung gave birth in the bathroom on two separate occasions at the home she lived at with her parents and then put the baby’s bodies in the trash can.

In 2009 Sandra Cunningham the Crown prosecutor told the jury that after Yeung was charged with killing her child in 2009 she confessed to also murdering a second child in 2010. She explained that her parents did not approve of pregnancy before marriage and so she was too scared to tell them that she was pregnant.

Instead, she chose to have the baby in a toilet in April of 2009 and placed the baby into a plastic bag outside of the family home. She then cleaned up any sign that she had a birth in the bathroom and called her boyfriend to tell him that she had miscarried. As if this was not enough, a year later in March of 2010 despite the fact that she was now married she also decided to have a baby in the bathroom. She held the baby inside of a plastic bag until it stopped moving and then placed into the garbage can again.
