Simon Gittany Found Guilty in Murder of Fianceé
Gittany murdered the fianceé by throwing her off the balcony of their 15th floor inner city apartment. Gittany pleaded not guilty and the defense subsequently argued instead that Harnum climbed over the balcony herself after Gittany forced her into the apartment.
"At some point it was a loving relationship but it turned into one which was about control and being dominated," Tim Stackpool, an Australian freelance reportertold CTV's News Channel on Wednesday.
According to reports, Justice McCallum found Gittany's testimony unconvincing, as if he was playing a part instead of telling the truth. Additionally, there was a witness account that stated he saw Gittany throwing a large item over the balcony. McCallum found this evidence compelling and said it played a large part in the verdict.
After the verdict was delivered, Gittany's family members were in uproar, with his current girlfriend screaming at the judge and his mother being put in an ambulance due to shock from the event.
Gittany will be sentenced in early 2014.
