Katherine Carpenter[/caption]Police have now taken a third suspect into custody for the murder of Aspen socialite Nancy Pfister. The suspect, Katherine Carpenter is the person who called the police on February 26 to report finding Pfister´s body in a closet in her West Buttermilk Road home.
Katherine Carpeter was arrested on March 2, shortly after her living quarters at Christina Lodge were searched. The housing unit belongs the Alpine Bank, where Carpenter has been working for more than 20 years.
The two other suspects who remain in custody are the husband and wife who had been renting Pfister´s home, William Francis Styler III and Nancy Christine Styler. All three suspects are being charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
Pfister had rented out her Aspen home to the Stylers because she was spending time in Australia. According to posts on her Facebook page from early February, Pfister indicated that her home would once again be available for rent because her tenants at that time, the Stylers, were not paying their rent or utilities. Pfister posted that she had left Katherine Carpenter in charge of showing the home and making arrangements with potential tenants.
The Stylers are expected to appear in court on March 17 at which time prosecutor Andrea Bryan is expected to formally file the charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. The court date for Katherine Carpenter is not yet known.
