Montana Pickup Crash Kills 5
Officials from the Montana Highway Patrol say that a 28-year old man was at the wheel when his pickup truck crashed near Browning, leaving 5 people dead and two others seriously injured. The unidentified driver, who was a resident of nearby Babb, allegedly lost control of the vehicle, which then rolled over several times, reports the Star Tribune.
In addition to the driver, the other fatalities included three men and one female, all in their late teens to early 20s in age, and three of whom were residents of Browning where the single vehicle crash took place.
None of the deceased or injured passengers have been identified. Police report that the two survivors of the pickup crash were treated at a nearby hospital and have since been released. Although local police are conducting an investigation as to the cause of the fatal crash, State troopers say that the vehicle was travelling at an excessive rate of speed well above posted limits which contributed to the driver loosing control of the pickup. In addition, neither the driver of the pickup nor any of his six passengers was wearing a seat belt at the time the driver lost control, another contributing factor that resulted in a high rate of fatalities.
