6,000 gallons of Scotch Whisky Lost In Truck Fire
Woodbridge, NJ – a B-line tanker truck transporting 6,000 gallons of Scotch whisky flipped over on a residential street at 9:00AM this past Tuesday morning. Apparently, the driver the truck crashed into a parked Cadillac which turned his truck on its side on someone’s front lawn. A fire resulted and the whisky cargo ignited.
A local resident told reporters that around 9:00AM, she heard a loud explosion followed by an odor she believed to be burning fiber glass which was actually the whisky. As luck would have it, a fire station was only a stone’s throw away from the accident allowing firefighters to extinguish the flame within minutes. However, the cleanup took the Hazmat crew much longer and the street was not reopened until 3:00PM that afternoon. Perhaps, all’s well that ends well as no one was hurt.
The driver suffered minor injuries but nothing serious. The hazmat crew did not field any questions from reporters and the police have refused to disclose what brand of scotch ignited. It is also uncertain how much of the load perished. No one was in the parked Cadillac.
No word either on whether the car was illegally parked or whether the truck driver was speeding.
