School Officials Make Good on Pledge and get MoHawk Haircuts
Jurupa Valley, California – The 2,000-plus students at Jurupa Valley High School got to witness their principal and assistant principals make good on their pledge to get Mohawk haircuts if the student body increased school’s Academic Performance Index by ten points, reports UPI.
The students rallied and did even better by raising the school’s score by 25 points to 746. It should be noted that while a 25 point increase is good progress, the school is still under-performing given that California’s interim target for the test score stands at 800.
Still, progress is progress and the increase was the most recorded by any other other school in the county. Now, Principal Roberta Pace and Assistant Principal Igor Milosavljevic have new Mohawk hairdos. Milosavljevic is known by his children as a rule-oriented, walk a chalk line type of dad. He admitted his four children were in for a surprise when he would return home and they’d behold him with the Mohawk.
The reaction of the students has been very positive. One seventeen year old girl commented that the test score challenge and Mohawk haircuts were demonstrative of the genuine concern the school has for the students. The local barbershop called “Classic Barbershop” did the Mohawks pro bono.
