Abandoned Infant Wrapped in Wal-Mart Bag Found Alive

Houston police officials are investigating who would have wrapped a newly born infant girl in a plastic bag from Wal-Mart and abandoned the child near an apartment complex. Luckily for the discarded baby, a local resident who was walking her dogs in the area discovered that the newborn was still alive.

According to reports, the baby girl still had her umbilical cord attached to her body and investigators reveal that it had been cut after her delivery rather than professionally clamped off.

The abandoned baby was transported to a local hospital where it was reported that she is in good health and improving.

The child’s unidentified rescuer reports that one of her dogs began sniffing around a large plastic Wal-Mart bag which had been dumped near the apartment shrubbery. T

he dog owner decided to investigate to see what had been deposited in the plastic bag and was amazed to discover it was a newly born little girl who was still alive and in clean condition, but not swaddled in a blanket or wearing any clothing despite the chilly February temperatures.

The Crimes Against Children Division of the Houston Police force is asking for the public’s help in identifying anyone who was seen dumping a plastic bag near Stonegate Villas Apartments.

Anyone with information is urged to call the HCSO Crimes against Children Unit at 713-830-3250 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477),” stated HCSO.
