Alec Baldwin fired Over Homophobic Rant
Actor Alec Baldwin has thrilled audiences with his roles which have been everything from comedic as in the sitcom “30 Rock” to heroic as in the classic film “The Hunt for the Red October” to the brass-balled corporate hatchet man in “Glengarry Glen Ross”. However, it is his temper and concomitant potty mouth that continually bite him the in his posterior just as his public image is restored.
Fans had only recently forgotten the angry rant he left on his daughter’s answering machine where he referred to her as a thoughtless swine with a rude personality. In fact, he was able to mend his relationship with her, but it took some time.
Now, he has lost his late night show at MSNBC, which was called “Up Late with Alec Baldwin”, over homophobic comments he made to a reporter. In all fairness, the 55-year-old actor comes from a tough guy era when likening a man to a homosexual or homosexual activity was considered effective at denigrating the person’s manhood. Thankfully, times have changed as homosexuals have obtained equal rights, but apparently Mr. Baldwin’s mental hot wire to a tongue lashing hasn’t. His homophobic rant was caught on tape and has led to his dismissal from the network despite his efforts to blunt the comment’s sting by having his male hairdresser speak on his behalf.
