NBC Anchor Curry Scoops CNN Rival for Rouhani Interview

CNN’s star journalist Christine Amanpour is preparing to interview the President of Iran when he visits New York City this month to attend meetings at the United Nations. But rival NBC journalist Ann Curry has already scooped her rival by scoring the first interview with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. Curry made a hasty trip to newly elected president’s official compound in Iran this week in order to conduct the interview which is slated to appear on NBC’s nightly news program hosted by Brian Williams. Curry’s head was covered with a scarf throughout the interview which took place in Iran’s capital city of Tehran as is the custom for females in that country.

Curry’s interview with Rouhani was the first that the Iranian president has provided to any western journalist since taking office and was quite a coup for Curry. Curry was in the news herself last year for being unceremoniously dumped from NBC’s “Today Show” morning line-up and many viewers criticized co-host Matt Lauer for not sticking up for the veteran journalist when producers wanted to replace her with a younger staffer. Even though CNN has already been promoting Amanpour’s upcoming interview, Curry has deflated her rival by getting the scoop first.
