Book Claims Anne Curry Fired For Doing Lousy Job

A new book that focuses on what led up to the very public firing of popular NBC Today show co-host Anne Curry claims that the reason for her dismissal was a very common one. She simply wasn’t good at doing her job, says Brian Stelter, author of the recently released ” Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV.”

Although lack of support from co-host Matt Lauer and many other factors have been blamed for Curry’s loss of her slot as a news anchor and interviewer on the long-running morning news and lifestyle program, Stelter says that it was Curry’s failure to do a stellar job that was mainly responsible for her downfall.

Stelter’s tell-all book reports many instances in which Curry was mocked by others involved with producing the show, with some episodes reaching the level of bullying. But in interviews regarding his book, Stelter says that Curry herself should have realized that much of what happened was simply run of the mill banter that was common among “Today” employees and that she should have not misinterpreted or taken the criticism personally.

Fans of Curry will have to read Stelter’s book to determine if she really was treated unfairly or was simply not doing the job she was hired to do.
