Bad Teacher Added To CBS Fall Schedule
CBS Picks Up “Bad Teacher” Pilot for Fall Premiere
Network officials at CBS Television have announced a last minute addition to their fall series line-up, a television adaptation of the hit 2011 movie “Bad Teacher”. The original film, starring Cameron Diaz, managed to gross $100 million and seemed like a good choice to eventually fill the vacancy in the comedy line-up once “How I Met Your Mother” concludes its run after this fall.
Actress Ari Graynor has been selected to fill the role portrayed on film by Diaz, with Ryan Hansen filling the role portrayed in the film by Justin Timberlake.
Rounding out the cast are other comedy veterans, including David Alan Grier, Kristin Davis of “Sex & The City” fame, and Sara Gilbert. Because CBS decided to commit after seeing the pilot so late in the season, “Bad Teacher” will be scheduled as a mid-season replacement.
The key story line in “Bad Teacher” is a divorced woman who is desperate to find a husband who turns to teaching in order to improve her chances of meeting Mr. Right.
Writer Hilary Winston who wrote the pilot episode will also have producing chores for the new series, joined by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, screenwriter for the original film version.
