Actors Bale, Mirren, Thompson Among Britain’s Most Influential

Britain’s Debrett’s 500 List has been the official source for naming the most influential stars in Great Britain over the past two and half centuries. Much like the Fortune 500 list released on an annual basis in the United States, the Debrett’s 500 List ranks VIPs in British society judged to have the greatest impact on the rest of the nation. Stars from the entertainment industry always tend to be included in the rankings of the most influential and 2014 is no different.

Actor Christian Bale and actresses Emma Thompson and Dame Helen Mirren are among the stars who made the cut for the latest Debrett’s 500 List. Bale can currently been seen on the silver screen appearing in Best Picture Oscar nominee “American Hustle.” Thompson recently portrayed British author P.L. Travers, creator of “Mary Poppins”, in a Disney release, and Mirren is a recent BAFTA fellow. Other stars ranked among Britian’s most influential include director Steve McQueen, who counts the Oscar-nominated “12 Years A Slave” among his most recent efforts. Comedian Steve Coogan, who wrote as well as stars in “Philomena”, is included, as are David and Victoria Beckham, and Downton Abbey regulars Michelle Dockery and Hugh Bonneville.
