Benzino shot at mothers funeral

Reports out of Brockton, Massachusetts indicate that “Benzino”, whose real name is Raymond Scott and the star of a reality TV show was treated for wounds suffered following surviving a gunshot caused by his nephew during a funeral procession on a Massachusetts state highway Saturday. The funeral was for a family member. The periodical “Hip-Hop Weekly” noted that Mr. Scott was in the funeral procession to bury his mother who had passed recently. At the time of the shooting Mr. Scott was heading to the church for the funeral service.

Mr. Scott is a regular cast member in the VH1 reality television show “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.” Mr. Scott is also CEO of Hip-Hop Weekly which confirmed on its website that Mr. Scott had been shot.

Mr. Scott, 48, was part of a funeral procession on a Massachusetts highway just south of Boston, the nephew, Gai Scott, 36, pulled aside Mr. Scott’s vehicle and fired multiple shots into the red SUV being driven by Mr. Scott. Police speculate that there has been increasing tension between the two family members.

Mr. Scott who hails from Mansfield, Massachusetts, was able to leave his vehicle after being shot and was transported by a passing driver to the nearby Duxbury Police station and he was then transferred to a local hospital.

“Hip-Hop Weekly” is also sourced as stating that Mr. Scott was shot in an arm and his back was grazed by a second bullet.Mr. Scott is currently listed in good condition, noted a spokeswoman for the South Shore Hospital located in South Weymouth.

Immediately following the shooting, Gai Scott, was arrested and charged with one count of assault with intent to murder. He arraignment is scheduled in the Plymouth District Court this Monday.
