Bradley Cooper speaks of Alcohol and Suicidal Thoughts

Bradley Cooper, well known actor for his role as Will Tippin in the smash hit TV drama series Alias, revealed that he was battling many inner demons while he was filming the series. In a recent interview with GQ, the men’s magazine of distinction, Cooper stated that while working on the set of Alias his self doubts as an actor materialized into an alcohol addiction as well as thoughts of suicide.

In the first and second season of the popular Alias series, Cooper’s role was diminished by contrast to other more predominant roles. His work week was cut down to just three days a week. With reduced demand for his work, he felt his value as an actor was diminishing. These factors became a catalyst to a spiral of bad behaviour and thoughts of self harm.

Admittedly, Cooper states he drank in excess and even thought of suicide while filming the series. However, it was his roles after Alias that launched him into a more predominant position as an actor. While Alias proved to be the launchpad, it was ironically his role in the movie “Hangover”, that launched him into more of a steadfast career. As his work progressed and Hollywood embraced him more, his need for alcohol subsided. Today, Cooper is widely known now as one of Hollywood’s Hottest acting commodities.
