Kings Langley, England – As part of their promotion for the third season of “Game of Thrones” on DVD, this small town of population 5,000 just outside of London will undergo a one-week name change to Kings Landing, the capital city of the popular HBO drama. In fact, it was a producer for the HBO series that got the idea for the name change and pitched it to the residents. The DVD goes on sale on February 18.

The series has been a ratings winner for HBO and has been renewed for a fourth season to air later this year. It has also been critically acclaimed gaining multiple Emmy Awards and British Academy Television Awards nominations in each of its three seasons.

Season 3 ratings saw a dramatic uptick over season 2 and on average was twice that of season 1. What has been propelling it to higher ratings is its increasing fan base. It is said that the “Game of Thrones” fan base has now exceeded that of “Harry Potter”, “Star Wars”, Lady Gaga, and Justin Bieber. Even state officials have been caught up in the frenzy such as Frans Timmermans, foreign minister for Holland, and Julia Gillard, former Australian prime minister.
