Former model Calum Best, who has recently filed for bankruptcy has undergone his second hair transplant surgery in 2 years. The 32 year old spent £6,000 on his most recent operation at Manchester’s Crown Clinic performed by surgeon Asim Shahmalak.

Calum Best, son of football star George Best, began losing his hair at the young age of 23. After being asked the reason for the second procedure, Best replied, “I had the second procedure because I was so pleased with the first one and how it helped to boost my confidence and work opportunities.” During his most recent operation 2,228 individual hairs were removed from the side of his scalp to the front thus filling out his hairline.

Best’s most recent hair transplant was two weeks ago and it will take anywhere from six months to a year for the new hair to fully grow.

He said: “Stars like Rooney and James Nesbitt have made a big difference. They’ve been very open about what they have had done and most men just say: ‘Good on them.’ And most women say: ‘Don’t they look better.'”

Surgeon Shahmalak said “The fact is a third of men suffer hair loss by the time they are 30.” Luckily people are viewing hair transplant surgery in a more positive light thanks to stars that have been open about having the procedure done.

As a result of his two operations, former model and aspiring actor Calum best can now wear his signature spiked hair and hopes that the results will lead to more job opportunities in the future.
