Lisa Lampanelli Loses 106 Pounds

Comedian Lisa Lampanelli has lost a remarkable 106 pounds, according to In Touch

“I’m officially a skinny bi—!” she told the magazine.

Approximately one year ago Lampanelli underwent a sleeve gastrectomy, a type of gastric-bypass surgery, which was performed in order to assist her in the weight loss.

The sleeve gastronomy was performed at the Mayo Clinic; it is a newer form of this type of surgery, which alters the shape of the stomach causing it to resemble a tube. The shape of the stomach doesn’t allow for as many calories to be absorbed by the body and thereby assisting in weight loss. The procedure is performed laparoscopically and is not reversible. The largest benefit of this surgery is that the missing portions of the stomache no longer produce the hormone of Ghrelin.

Lampanelli who is now 51 years old has stated she struggled with her weight for years; she says she has tried many different weight loss programs and diets and even went to food rehab in an effort to get control of her food addiction. She is currently using portion control and exercise in order to maintain her new weight of 142 pounds.

According to International Business Times, Lampanelli was quoted as saying, “One of the best parts of losing weight has been the clothing!” said Lampanelli, who now weighs in at 142 pounds. “I roll up to Macy’s and go to the sales rack and see how much I can get for as little amount of money! It’s almost like a game for me!”

Earlier this year kdkd told Dr. Phill she the decison for the sugery came after years of failing at trying to lose the weight.

“For 32 years –- from 18 to 50 –- I tried everything on the planet, and once I had a clean slate with that I said, ‘You know what? Nothing’s working for me. I’m going to treat this like the addiction that it is. I’m going to get this surgery and use it as a tool.’ That’s all it is, a tool to help me get over it,” she said.
