Daniel Day-Lewis’ Son Releases Rap Video

Three-time Academy Award winner for Best Actor Daniel Day-Lewis isn’t the only one with talent in the family. It turns out his son Gabe has some unique skills that perhaps even his father, well-known for his character-acting skills, can’t imitate and that is the ability to rap.

Gabe steps through lyrics of a new video which assert his desire to be known as “Gabe Day” and not by his hyphenated name lest he “Gabe Day lose it” as a play on word for “Lewis”. He goes on to say that he understands what his name is and what the meaning of fame constitutes. However, the youngster doesn’t actually demonstrate his understanding of his name or paternal fame. Perhaps that’s because it’s a lot easier to make a bold claim than it is to substantiate one.

“Call me Gabe Day and not Gabe Day-Lewis, ‘cuz if you’re trying to call me out I’m about to Gabe Day lose it, bitch,” Day raps/sings on the track. He later adds, “Judging someone for who their dad is just as bad as being racist.”

Further on the video, the young man pays his respect to fellow 40-year-old rapper Nas and 28-year-old rapper J. Cole whom he refers to as his heroes. He then says that the only times he loses focus is when he watches his spiff and blunt burn up. A spiff is a hybrid smoke of marijuana and tobacco. A blunt is a cigar shell filled with weed. He is seen smoking what appear to be marijuana cigarettes in the video.

The video has since been set to “private” on YouTube.
