Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg: “I could beat Ed Balls in a fight because I kick box”
It isn’t every day that prominent government officials get involved in an adolescent competition for the man with the biggest “winky”, but that appears to be the case between Nick Clegg, England’s Deputy Prime Minister, and Ed Balls, the Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer.
It is well known that Chancellor Balls has an unbridled temper. He was recently pulled away from an opponent in what began as a disagreement over European policy. The firebrand Minister of Parliament is not above trying to get a piece of someone whom he believes has it coming. That fact has made him somewhat of an intimidating figure.
Deputy Prime Minister Clegg is feeling a little more confident in his ability to defend himself now that he’s got a few kick boxing lessons under his belt. In fact, he confessed that he can likely taken on Chancellor Balls. It isn’t clear just how realistic Clegg’s lessons have been. There is a quite a difference between sparring with an instructor who won’t strike you back and a daunting figure ready to take your head off. Thankfully, both men now attribute their comments to what they call “coalition politics” and have since made more civilized comments about one another.
