Devil Baby Attack in New York

It a form of advertising that has grown recently and will continue to grow, movie studios are using various forms of viral videos to promote their new Hollywood releases. Some campaigns are more successful than others but all viral video advertising blitzes have one thing in common and that is they are far cheaper modes of getting word about their movies than the traditional television, radio, billboard and print ads that have normally been the primary mode of advertisements.

New ground was broken in viral video this week in New York by the creators and marketers of the soon to be released horror flick Devil’s Due. The story in the movie starring Allison Miller and Zach Gilford follows a newlywed couple who are expecting their first baby, but come to find out that it may be possessed by Satan. To market this century’s Rosemary’s Baby the studio built a realistic looking robotic infant and a remote controlled baby stroller. As one can see in the prank style video the baby has a terrifying evil sneer and the ability to projectile vomit ala Linda Blair in The Exorcist. The stroller and demonic baby idled up to random New Yorkers and popped out to over the top frightened reactions from the patrons.

The prank video is being passed around the internet faster than any prior attempt at viral video marketing and is sure to put more film goers into the seat when the film opens.
