Duchess Kate Middleton Ignites Criticism Over Hair Twirling During Remembrance Day (photo)

The English are known for their patriotism following their bravery and indomitable spirit during what was then called “The war to end all wars” or “The Great War”. Since the 1940s, it has been referred to as World War I. The war ended on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month back in 1918 and has been commemorated annually by “Remembrance Day”.

Now, 31-year-old Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has touched off a firestorm of criticism over her apparent indifference to the ultimate sacrifice made by so many soldiers in the line of duty. She was photographed looking rather bored and twirling her lovely brown locks of hair during the actual ceremony. It was hardly the type of behavior the public expected to see coming from a Royal member especially one in such a high profile.

As one reader pointed out:

Remembrance Day (also known as Poppy Day or Armistice Day) is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth countries since the end of World War I to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty.
Not twirl my hair I don’t have a care in the world day.

In all fairness, not everyone is critical of her behavior.

I watched the event online and she was not “twirling” her hair. Her behavior was most appropriate and more than likely it was in the middle of an event or possibly after the event or before. Let’s not blow things out of proportion. Typical media

There are plenty of people on the internet who could care less about “Remembrance Day” and were more focused on the Duchess’ lovely brown hair. It is not clear how the Duchess will respond to the criticism, but it is only a moment of anger for an otherwise beloved person in British culture.

Duchess Kate recently gave birth to a boy, George Alexander Louis, who is heir to the throne.
