Jets Fan punches woman During NFL Game (PHOTO)
This fight however, involved an innocent bystander and from the footage, obvious states of inebriation. Outside of the stadium gates, a tussle ensues between rival fans. Between the two main fight contributors steps a woman with the intent of breaking the fight up. She is belted by a drunken right cross to the face.
Security immediately broke up the fight, but because of the qualification of the scuffle as battery, state police officials have become involved. No substantial injuries have yet been reported, and no further physical confrontations were precipitated by the localized violent exchange.
Onlookers were quick to record footage of the event from multiple angles, but could not predict the introduction of a stunning violent exchange between a large male Jets fan and a blonde-haired woman who obviously sensed a skirmish was at hand, and stepped-in to calm the parties involved.
The Jets won the game 30-27 in a hard-fought battle. Emotions were running high throughout the entire second half, and fan loyalties were tested to the utmost. Fights are common at stadiums, but the involvement of bystanders is unusual. Authorities are compiling information and witness testimony in the event of extended legal precedings.
UPDATE 6:50 p.m. ET 10/21: The New York Daily News identified the man who appeared to throw the punch caught on tape as Kurt Paschke. The News interviewed Paschke’s mother, Colleen, who claimed her son was only attempting to protect her from aggressive Patriots fans.
“He’s the victim, really,” Colleen told The Daily News on Monday at her home on Long Island. “He was just concerned for his mother and himself.”
