Fastest-growing baby name

In the US, over 4 million babies are born every year. These soon-to-be parents are thinking about the perfect name for their new arrival. For ideas, parents typically purchase (or look through) the baby-name book, they will ask everyone about names, and they also use the Internet to find out top names. For 2012, the Social Security Administration released the list of fastest-growing baby names listed below.

The HBO series Game of Thrones has a character named Arya. This rise in this name increased dramatically since the show aired. As for the boy name, Major took the front. It is thought to be a tribute to the US Military. Many expectant parents also look into who their favorite actor is or from what is the current pop culture.

Other fast-growing baby names for girls include Perla, Emma, Emily, Abigail, Ava, Olivia, Mia, Madison and Elizabeth. Some of these names were seen in the early 1900s. For the boys, Jacob and Michael are still on the list.

Jacob has been on the list since 1999 and Michael, well he’s been on it forever. Other boy names include Mason, Ethan, William, Noah, Aidan and Jayden.
The baby name is submitted every time a parent applies for a social security number and at the beginning of the new year we get to read the most popular names. It is fun to read, even if you are not expecting a baby.
