2014 NFL Combine Event Displays the Fastest Quarterback

Indianapolis, Indiana – The annual NFL Combine event was held this weekend and Johnny Manziel, the quarterback for the Texas A&M Aggies, came off as the fourth fastest person in his playing position. It is an important boost to his profile as he enters the NFL draft. His height being just shy of 6 ft. makes him less desirable as a quarterback. The quarterbacks which performed faster than Manziel were Logan Thomas of Virginia Tech, Stephen Morris of the University of Miami, and Connor Shaw of the University of South Carolina. Manziel’s 40-meter sprint time was 4.68.

In addition, Manziel was seen to perform well in every other category such as his 31.5″ in the vertical jump where he placed 5th, the long jump with a 4th place finish of 9’5″, and the three cone drill with a second place finish at 6.75 seconds. His best performance came in the important challenge known as the 20-yard shuttle where his 4:03 time bested all the other quarterbacks.

The big question that remains is whether this is sufficient to impress NFL talent scouts. He’ll be judged on more than his speed, but there is supposedly a sufficient body of evidence to show he is a well-rounded athlete.
