Father writes to Obama over son’s death from FBI agents
Mr. Abdulbaki Todashev has been grieving ever since receiving word his unarmed son, Ibragim Todashev, was shot and killed by FBI agents this past May 22. The FBI had arrived at his son’s apartment to question him regarding association with the Boston Bombers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev. Unable to get answers, Mr. Abdulbaki Todashev has written a letter to President Obama imploring him for assistance.
“My reaching out to you is dictated by the calling of my soul and the unsubsiding pain of the father who has lost his guiltless son to a violent shooting death,” Mr Todashev wrote.
“I am not asking you to share this pain with me; rather, I plead with you, the ruler of the great country and a guarantor of the democracy in the modern world, to see that the law and justice triumph in my son’s case.”

As per Abdulbaki Todashev, his son’s contact with the Boston Bombers was exclusively limited to his participation in boxing. The father’s pain is evident in the letter to the president where he pleads for assistance in bringing justice for his fallen son. As for the FBI, they said they are still conducting their own investigation into why his son was shot by special agents. Witnesses on hand said the young man was unarmed. The FBI says the young man, who was skilled in mixed martial arts, jumped at them bearing a knife.
Mr. Abdulbaki Todashev currently resides in Russia and expressed a willingness to meet in person with President Obama to discuss the matter. A spokesperson for the National Security Council is making a determination as to what would be an appropriate response to the father’s letter.
