Public Enemy Rap Star Busted in New York

William Drayton aka Flavor Flav of the notorious group Public Enemy was arrested in New York Thursday morning at about 9:30AM for speeding. The arresting officer also found a small amount of marijuana in his possession. He was clocked doing 79 mph in a 55 mph speed zone.

The 54-year-old hip hop star from Roosevelt, New York, was going to the funeral of his mother who passed away on New Year’s Eve. The local police department, considerate of his circumstances, released him shortly after his arrest to allow him time to attend the funeral and bid his mother farewell. Drayton was tasked with the responsibility of making his arraignment for the speeding violation at a later date.

Drayton notified his fans of his mother’s death via a Tweet on New Year’s Eve stating that the elderly woman was able to live a good life and that he would miss her dearly. Drayton has had a lot of trouble behind the wheel which fact was inescapable to the officer who pulled him over. Over the course of his life, he’s had no less than 16 driving suspensions along with numerous encounters with the law. As for the marijuana possession, he may be in luck given that New York is considering loosening their restrictions on the drug much as Colorado has done.
