Florida alligator tries to shop at WalmartThe workers at a local Walmart in Apopka Florida were shocked to find what was lurking around just outside the store; amazingly a nearly 6 foot alligator had found its way to the front door of the building. Stunned shoppers and employees alike looked on in fear of the giant reptile.

The loitering reptile caused the automatic doors to open and close repeatedly as it walked past them until employees locked them and call the police.

Quick thinking Walmart staff members locked the doors near the alligator to keep it from getting in, and Apopka police were called in. After barricading the area around the animal, the police called in a professional trapper to capture the animal. But the quick footed gator ran away before the trapper could get to the scene. The animal escaped into some woods around the store but was later confined to a retention type pond close by.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission have now taken over the incident. According to the FWC a permit will be issued for the capture of the gator. A representative from the FWC made the announcement that once the reptile is caught, the animal will be destroyed because of possible future danger it poses to the general public. The FWC regrets the action, but is necessary to keep people from being harmed by the animal.
