Curiosity
for Columbia Students, Nutella ‘Hoarding” Is Too Tempting To Pass On
A row has broken out between dining hall administrators and students at the prestigious Columbia University over the amount of Nutella being used by student diners on campus.
After agreeing to serve the chocolate hazelnut spread every day, instead of just on weekends Columbia administrators claim students are stealing large quantities of the sandwich filling to eat with snacks.
Reports claim more than 100 pounds of Nutella are consumed or stolen each day in Columbia University’s undergraduate dining halls costing the college more than $5,000 per week.
The Nutella problem became public when a member of the Columbia College Student Council posted a plea on Facebook for students to stop taking more Nutella than they needed for a single meal.
The Italian made chocolate spread is popular on campuses across the U.S. with no other problems so far reported by other schools.
Columbia University officials state they are prepared for losses in the dining halls, but not to the extent they have seen with the Nutella problem.
