Giving new meaning to the old Beatles tune which declared “I am the Walrus”, a landlord in Brighton, England, has offered up a house for in this port town of 155,000 residents. The rental fee for the house is not monetary.
In terms of money, it’s rent free. However, the renter will need to both dress and act like a walrus for two hours a day. The landlord claims to have lived on St. Lawrence Island which rests between Alaska and Russia. During that stay, the landlord’s only friend was a walrus with whom he shared a meaningful relationship. To that extent, the landlord has constructed what he believes is a realistic walrus suit that should fit the average sized person.
According to the Gumtree ad, the renter will need to dawn the suit and behave like a walrus which duty includes eating fish.
There is no word on whether the fish will be eaten raw and whole as it would be with a true life walrus. The rental ad was placed on the website Gumtree and has gone viral due to its uniqueness.
Obviously, such an ad looks, acts, and smells like a hoax. Time will tell how legitimate it actually is.
This isn’t the first over-the-top ad posted on Gumtree.

Mr Wright, 27, of Herston, posted the advertisement on the classifieds website on April Fools’
Day because those who replied to an earlier stock-standard ad were, he said, “pretty boring”.

“I just wasn’t happy with the people who showed up, so I thought I’d just go a bit crazy,” he said.
“I wanted someone who’d appreciate [the ad] as much as I would; you know, if you think this sort of thing is funny then come and move in.”
Mr Wright said the successful candidate for a housemate moved in shortly after the ad was posted.
