According to an article recently published on the website Delish.com, approximately 50% of all chicken that consumers may purchase at supermarkets in the coming weeks may be tainted with a new and deadly super bug.

Consumer Reports has just made available the results of some extremely disturbing research which they performed on raw poultry. These results are far from comforting. It seems it is no exaggeration to report that 50% of all the poultry they surveyed contained microbes which the scientists have labeled a new “super bug”.

The scientific researchers in charge of the survey studied over 300 samples of poultry. According to their published report, 1 in every 6 sample surveyed contained at least one type of potentially dangerous bacteria. Types of bacteria discovered included salmonella and the particularly virulent E. coli.

Worse news was yet to come. In at least half of the sample surveyed, the microbes were found to be of a type that were capable of successfully resisting antibiotics. According to Thomas Friedan, who is the current director of the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention, “”If we’re not careful, we will soon be in a post-antibiotic era.” More information will be released as the story develops.
